The book has the name Koheleth because it claims to have been written by Koheleth. The opening statement reads: “The words of Koheleth.” The author designates himself in this way again in 1:12 and 12:9. Interesting is the passage 7:27, in that it uses the feminine form of the verb with this same noun as its subject, indicating that the author may also be conceived as a kind of personification, let us say, of wisdom.
